Residential and Commercial Photovoltaic Incentives
The Banning Electric Utility has various programs to provide customers with rebates and additional services. Various rebates are offered from planting shade trees to recycling inefficient refrigerators. The utility also grant their residential and commercial customers with rebates upon the purchase of solar photovoltaic systems.
Banning Electric Department Residential and Commercial Photovoltaic Incentives is available for qualified PV solar systems. Before rebate payment, the cost per kilowatt of an installed solar system ranges from $7,500t o $12,000. This includes the solar module, wiring, inverter, photovoltaic cells, mounting, tracking, and the interconnection equipment.
The rate of incentive is $3.72 per watt, per customer with a maximum project size based on the maximum demand of each customer’s account. The incentive should not exceed 50% of the project cost. For municipal projects, the incentive levels will be evaluated individually by the Banning Electric Department.
To qualify, the individual or business must be a City of Banning Electric customer. If the applicant is a tenant, the property owner must be the one who signs the rebate application form before its submission.
City of Banning Electric stipulates in its contract that the photovoltaic system must be installed at the service address to qualify for the rebate. The installation must be done by a California licensed contractor. The applicant must ensure that the photovoltaic solar system passes the local and state regulations and building codes before the installation.
The contractor should be at least a C-10 Electric Contractor, General Building “B” Contractor, General Engineering “A” Contractor, or a C-46 Solar Contractor. An individual can verify with the California Contractors State License Board by calling 800-321-2752.
The City of Banning Electric does not have a buy-back program at this time. It will not pay for electricity produced above the customer’s actual usage.
Rebates are paid on a first come, first serve basis until the utility’s funding is exhausted. If you got any questions or need more information about City of Banning Electric Solar Support Program, you can contact:
