The City of Lompoc (CA) is offering a rebate program on photovoltaic systems to encourage customers to install such systems in their homes or businesses. The rebate program makes PV systems more affordable for the customers, and the city hopes that residents and businesses switch to solar power for their energy needs.
To qualify for the rebate program the customer must meet the criteria set by Lompoc City Electric and the California Energy Commission. Additionally, the customer must sign an interconnection agreement for self-generating solar systems. When all requirements are met the utility will issue the rebate.
The solar power system must use photovoltaic modules and inverters included on the State of California Energy Commission list of eligible equipment to qualify for the City of Lompoc PV Rebate Program. Equipment must have a minimum of a ten year warranty against breakdown or unusual degradation, and the solar photovoltaic system must be installed by a certified California solar installer or contractor.
For non-profit organizations the rebate rate is $3.50 per watt generated, and for all others the rate is $3 per watt. The rebate total must not exceed one-half of the total cost of the photovoltaic system, or a maximum of $50,000.
