Thanks for visiting!Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative (CHELCO) a utility company of northwest Florida is has of recently started offering net metering to residential and commercial customers with photovoltaic (PV) or wind energy systems up to 10 kilowatts (kW) in capacity.
Net metering is the practice of allowing owners of renewable energy sources to automatically sell any excess electricity generated by their solar panels or wind turbines back to the utility company. The advantage of combining renewable energy sources such as solar power and wind turbines with net metering, is staying connected to the electrical grid. This way you avoid having to install battery back-up power for periods when your residential energy production is low, as you can still draw power from the utility company.
