The future looks bright for solar panel manufacturers with next week’s 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen to look for climate change solutions.

Around one-fourth of the country’s utilities offer green power programs, and at present big utility companies can’t deliver 100 percent renewable power to their customers. Rather, their electricity comes from different sources such as coal plants, solar power farms, and wind farms and go through the same power grid.

It is agreed among all scientists that there has been a temperature rise on our planet since the year 1000. Since the year 1850, when more accurate temperate readings have been taken worldwide, the rise has been small. But it’s indicative of temperature rises that will occur in our lifetime, and in the next generation.

There’s a plan to build a 400 billion euro ($569.1 billion) solar power plant in the Sahara Desert. But even in the early stages of the planning there are already some objections to the project.

I/o Data Centers, an IT infrastructure provider located in Phoenix, will turn to the sun for some of its power supply. It is set to install a huge solar panel array that will generate a maximum of 4.5 megawatts of electricity.

Large solar power plants can use mirrors to concentrate the sun’s rays. According to one study, these types of solar power plants could generate up to 25% of the Earth’s electricity by the year 2050.
